Babies Babies Babies!!!

WOW!! It is REALLY baby season! My phone has been ringing off the hook, and several of my photog friends are prego too! But everyone knows that women have babies in the summer! hehe

So I thought I would share a session from this last week that I just sent off to this mommy, Ms. A. This is her third child.....and they have opted not to know the sex as you will see in the pics! :) This was her idea to do the question mark and I just LOVED it! I will have to remember that one for sure!

Thanks Ms. A. for giving me such a wonderful afternoon! Your boys were precious and you can really see the love in you and your husbands eyes! :) I had a wonderful time!

Oh, and of course, I have a new song for the day! Enjoy!

Road Trip.........Self portrait challenge: street week 3

Wow! Its Tuesday already?! As you all know, Tuesday is the magic day for me to post my SPC series for the week! Street photography for this week was taken this weekend on a trip to visit family! I was sitting in the back of my car with my daughter, who was happily watching the DVD player and not wanting to talk to me, when I decided to snap this photo.

I felt very lonely on this trip. Lots of country side (which I will share later), and bad music on the Ipod! I felt like the road was just zooming by, yet time just stood still in the car.

Thanks for letting me share!

Ballerina Girl............

Today Ms. L had her dance recital! She had the best time! She was so beautiful and graceful, obviously the most talented in the class! hehehe I suppose I'm a LITTLE bias! :)

But no matter, I thought she shined like a princess!
I danced for 15 years, so seeing my little one dance with her heart makes me so proud! She cant wait to do it again next year! And I have to admit, I am looking forward to next year also. I mean, who doesn't want to see their little one in a tutu and tights?! Not to mention that crown! hehe

There was so much excitement this morning as we got ready! We went 30 min. before it started to get front row seats, so we didn't end up in the back row like at graduation where I had to use my 70-300mm lens to even "kinda" see her!! I looked on as she practiced her pile's and tondu's! Like a graceful Swan! hehe

I think a lot of that excitement had to deal with getting her VERY FIRST trophy!! She was SO proud of herself!
I was proud too! So go on my Ballerina girl, dance like no one is watching!

New Beginings.....

My little girl has graduated from Pre-K and is going to be in Kindergarten! I can't believe this day has come already! I am SOOOOO not ready!
I'm not ready to go buy school supplies, or pick out a back pack and lunch box. I'm not ready to drop her off in the circle drive and not walk her to her class room everyday! I'm not ready for parent/teacher conferences that are mandatory, or class projects, or homework! I'm just not ready!
However, Ms. L is! She is so excited! She cant wait for this new journey to begin! She is ready to loose teeth and grow up. Ready for skinned knees that don't make her cry. She is ready to let go of my hand and tell ME its going to be OK! I just cant believe what a beautiful young lady she is turning out to be! She has a gentle soul, and a heart for God. She is super smart and super lovely! I think I'm just scared that she wont need me anymore! But then I remember, she is only going to be in Kindergarten, and she will still need me!
Those knees will still hurt when she falls, and she just might need a shoulder to cry on. When friendships end, I will be there to tell HER its OK. She will ask me for help picking our her back pack and lunch box. She will want me to help her with her homework when she cant figure it out on her own.
I think we will both survive..................

In my daughters eyes.......

**UPDATE! I have changed my slide show, but thank you to everyone who viewed my special Moms day show! I had a great time showing it!!

Today, I feel in reflection over the last five years that I have been a mom! Seems like a lot longer some days, and like no time at all on other days!

So I picked this song from Martina McBride for the music on the Blog today! And Have added a little slideshow to reflect in what a wonderful little lady Ms.L has become! :) Thanks for letting me share!! (it's on the sidebar!!)

Happy Girls Day!

I just wanted to take this time to say Happy Mothers Day to all the Moms, Aunts, Grand moms, Great-Grand moms, Sisters, Friends, and Moms-to-Be! I hope its wonderful for everyone!
I really think it should be called "Girls" day because all girls are a mom in some way or another.
I think sometimes we forget that not all "moms" are really moms. My sister Brittany is just as much a mom to my daughter than I am, as is my own mom,Terry! So for those special ladies, I say thank you for all that you do! I love you both!

Pics by the Fence

I just LOVE this fence, its right at the end of the highway down the road from my home. Well, my daughter modeled this awesome set from a wonderful designer that we model for quite often. When the set arrived, I just KNEW we had to do it in this spot!
I think its going to be one of my new favorite spots!
Thanks for looking!

MMMM.....Cookies!!

Lots of people know that in my past life I went to culinary school and was a private chef for quite a while! The one thing I can NOT resist is a warm plate of fresh baked chocolate chip cookies!
These were mini-versions of those, because I can eat 3 of them and only have the calories of 1 regular sized! So enjoy some eye candy, and go make some cookies! hehe

Self Portrait Challange: Street Week 2

I know I'm really behind this week, but I have been super busy! So I am trying to catch up! This was today's Self Portrait Challenge in the theme of Street! I actually had another idea, but decided that I would try something out of the ordinary. We rarely ever look at the actual street in pictures, its just in them. So I thought I would focus on this poor torn up street. Its actually right in front of my house! This is the end of my driveway that the city ripped up a few months ago.
Thanks for letting me share!

Seven More Facts?!

OK so I have been reading all my friends blogs, so I have decided to do another 7 random facts about me! (can you believe that I could find 7 more?!)

So here goes....

1.) I have broken all of my toes, twice, but never a finger!

2.)I can touch my foot to my forehead, and wrap my leg behind my neck!

3.) I can fold my tongue in half and lay it flat, HORIZONTALLY! (and hold it there for like 10 min!!)

4.) I had a natural childbirth, but not by choice. My anaesthesiologist gave me an epidural at 8cm. and it didn't kick in until after I had Lagan! I was paralyzed from the waist down for 3 hours!

5.) I have always wanted to be able to play the guitar! (its just so cool!)

6.) I can order dinner in 4 languages!

7.) I insist on someone telling me "be careful" before leaving my house. The one time it didn't happen, I got in a car accident! So if I don't hear someone say it, I will call my mom and have her say it to me! lol

The Seven Deadly....Facts?!

My friend Jennifer tagged me on my other blog, so I decided to post here also. She has dared me to post seven RANDOM facts about me, then Tag 7 of my friends to do the same!
So here goes......

1.) I am terrified to swim in the ocean. (I watch too much national geographic shark attacks lol)

2.) My body works in strange ways.....for example: I can dislocate my shoulder at any given time, and I can pee on command! (I know you didn't want to know that! LOL)

3.) My hair is naturally bleach blonde! I have to color it once every 2 months or my blonde will start showing through! My hairstylist said she has never seen anything like it!

4.) I like to get dressed up to go shopping, and pretend like I'm really rich! lol

5.) I currently own 3 businesses! And no, I don't know how I find the time to do everything!

6.) When I was in culinary school, I auditioned for the Food Network and Disney Land. When I did my audition for Disney, I was the ONLY person in my class that could name 8 different kinds of potatoes! (the types I said were.....Kennebec, tewantipeckian, purple fingerling, Irish cobbler, red ruby, russet, Norwis, and chieftain---don't ask me how I know all of those! lol)

AND..............

7.) I would love to be an interior decorator!
Ok, so now I have to TAG people, but since I tagged 7 on my other blog, Im just going to tag one, and thats my sis, Britt!

The Calm Before The Storm

Today in Austin, we had some very severe weather! We have been having rain like crazy, and tonight we had tons of tornato watches and warnings....its hard to believe I caught this beautiful picture, full of life and color, this after noon! I like to call it....the calm before the storm!

Self Portrait Challenge- Last Month

Well, I know these are a little late, but I had some fun doing some self portrait challanges about "The Body" from April, but never shared them on my other blog, so I thought, I might just share them here! I hope you can find the beauty in the places I dont like about myself! I have looked over these pictures many times and have decided, I guess Im not so bad afterall, no makeup and everything! lol

Session at Home

I had the opportunity the other day to snag my daughter, Lagan, after school and snap a few photos of her on the side of our house! (One of my FAVE places to shoot!) I think its so important to take time out with your kids and get to know them for who they are, laugh, and have a good time! We love our little "moments". So I hope you all enjoy looking at them, as much as I enjoyed taking them!

Self Portrait Challenge: May week 1

Time for May's Self Portrait Challenge. This is my first time to do this sort of work, I'm not very easy about being in front of the camera! So this is forcing me to be open and vulnerable!

The challenge for May - is street photography - with YOU in it.
Capture yourself somehow, somewhere on the street.
With or without others around or others in the photo frame.
You could ask someone else to press the shutter for you
or carry around your tripod - whatever you do it has to
have a ’street photography’ vibe to it.
What is that you ask - well Amy Stein says that
good street photography should be voyeuristic,
immediate, and uncomfortably intimate.
It is also often thought to need to be ironic
and distanced from its subject matter,
concentrating on a single human moment,
caught at a decisive or poignant moment.
Street photography usually utilises landscape format
wide angle lense - to allow more action in the picture,
to capture more than one main story.
It is a type of documentary photography
but it is in public places and captures an
immediacy and frankness that is thought to be very human.

So taking that all into consideration, my view was a girl, searching for a dream while she wonders down the road. She stops to take a breath of fresh air and contemplate her life.

I hope you enjoy it! :)
